A light from your heart

Feeling very heartache...News reported Sichuan province was hit by another round of earthquake - 6 on the magnitude. More disasters could be coming..floods..epidemic..more aftershocks/earthquakes..I think many of you feel as heavy hearted as I am after reading all the news reports. Many heartwarming stories arising from this disasters as well. Really touched to see majority of the China nationalites working together as one heart to help and rescue their fellow people. Some may say, "Of course, they are all China people mah." Its easy to say this, but when things happen, how many can stay united like they did. Another group of important people to commemorate is the rescue team who have been working very very hard. These group of noble people have demonstrated their strong determination to rescue as many people as they can. Guys, please be careful and take care of yourselves too.

While a lot of attention is being focused on the earthquake in Sichuan, many of us are probably not aware of how bad the situation is in Myanmar. Situation in Myanmar is not any better off then in SiChuan. I am not from Myanmar but I came across the news on the internet.
Here's a short paragraph from the news, "Without clothes or shoes, the thousands of men, women and children made destitute by the cyclone could only stand in the mud and rain of the latest tropical downpour, their hands clasped together in supplication at the occasional passing aid vehicle," the reporter wrote. "Any car that did stop was mobbed by children, their grimy hands reaching through a window in search of bits of bread or a T-shirt."

This is the power of media. Foreign aids are not able to reach the country, thus resulting in a rising number of deaths due to disease and starvation. Actually there are many unfortunate scenes in this world but we will not be aware of it unless it is been reported. Sometimes, media are not able to report due to many reasons..
I overheard from my brother the other day that his colleagues from Myanmar will try calling back to their hometown everyday. But all they get was disappointment and tears after every calls...rays of hope diminished as the days went by...they couldn't get hold of any of their loved ones becos their whereabouts were unknown..whether are they safe or still around...
Needless to say, many of those from China and Myanmar staying overseas will be very anxious to fly back home immediately...

People in Sichuan are still searching frantically at every hospitals or even among the rubbles for their families & relatives. All they hope was a miracle to happen..
I imagined myself having to search for my little niece among a crowd, my mind will be in a swirl and my heart will bouncing like crazy! The thought of this is enough to make me go crazy..then what about the people in Sichuan and Myanmar..

I heard many people around me discussing about the huge amount of money raised for these 2 disasters especially the one in Sichuan..Some were wondering and in doubts whether these money will really be put into good use. Initially I have the same thought. But then I think again, who are we to know this amount is more then enough for the victims to rebuild their hometowns, infrastructure, medical, food supplies...etc...The damage done is far too great and extensive. The people need more then that to walk out of their trauma and sorrows.
Actually, donation is one of the easiest way to contribute...if any of you are thinking to buy any branded goods right now, perhaps you can also spare some money for those less fortunate. If you are thinking of dinning at some expensive place, perhaps you can also afford to spare a little bit for those in need. Or perhaps you are thinking of buying a cup of ice cream, you may want to skip that for now and donate this bit of money.
If by chance, you wanted to buy any of my accessories, I hope that you can use the money to help those people in China or Myanmar first. There are many channels to make donations but just be more cautions and alert when you made your donations so that they do not get into the wrong hands. If there's anyone at any part of this world who wants to take advantage of this disaster to earn quick bucks, please have a heart. What we reap is what we sowed.

I think we are super fortunate to be living in Singapore. Singaporeans have been rather active and generous in our donations but we will never be able to understand what those victims had gone through. Becos we are so fortunate, we take many things in our daily life for granted. If you are feeling hopeless, unhappy or angry with somebody/situation, put them aside...becos as compared to those victims, our problems, unhappiness or anger is really really very small issue.

Whether you are a Buddhist, Taoist, Muslim, Christian or Catholic, remember these victims(be it those alive or not around anymore)and rescuers in your prayers. If you do not have any religion, you can also send a light from your heart to these people.
